Crayon Valentines
Super easy way to love your neighbor & God's world.
Recycle used crayons in this fun to make Valentine.
Supplies:
red or pink cardstock (the thicker paper holder the heavy crayon better)
black construction paper strips (about 1 cm wide and as tall as your crayon, about 2 ")
old crayons
small muffin tins or metal cookie cutters
oven
glue
scissors
Directions:
1. Cut crayon shapes out of the colored cardstock (One sheet made 4 for us with some paper remaining)
2. Cut and glue 2 black stripes on the left and right sides of the crayon shape.
3. Have your child print the name of their Valentine inbetween.
4. On the back attach the words "YOU COLOR MY WORLD!"
5. Peel the paper off old crayons. Sort them by color. Smash them in plastic bags using a meat mallot or hammer.
6. Fill a tiny muffin tin half full of smashed crayons. (Mix good color combinations.)
If you want to use metal cookie cutters. Create a tightly fitting bottom to your cookie cutter with foil. Fill and melt.
7. Melt in the oven for 15 min at 200 degrees.
8. Allow to cool. If the new crayons do not easily pop out, stick the tins in your freezer for a few minutes and then try to remove the crayons.
9. Attach to your valentine with glue. Send your love!
*Preschoolers will enjoy peeling, sort and breaking (with caution) the crayons!
